HCL Storytimes and MN Early Learning Standards
HCL storytimes incorporate all four indicators of progress: listening, speaking, emergent reading, and emergent writing listed in the Minnesota Early Learning Standards.

Emergent reading and writing is what children know about reading and writing before they actually learn to read and write. Storytimes promote active parent/caregiver involvement to help you prepare your child for reading and writing. See detailed chart showing how storytime activities meet Minnesota Early Learning Standards. Report author: Heather Meyer, Eden Prairie Library.
