World Language Storytimes
World Language Storytimes are offered this fall at nine Hennepin County Libraries. Storytimes are presented in four languages: Spanish, Chinese, Somali and Vietnamese. Presenters from Kenya, Liberia and Nigeria share African stories and music in English.

Research shows that young children in families where more than one language is spoken should continue speaking and learning in their first language. The Library Foundation of Hennepin County funded community partners who are native speakers to work with librarians for these special storytimes. Most World Language Storytimes do not require registration. All are welcome.

Reading tips in world languages is another useful literacy tool.
