Caldecott Book Winners
Brian Selznick won the 2008 Caldecott Medal for The Invention of Hugo Cabret (533 pages). For the first time, this prestigious award was given to an illustrated novel. The Caldecott committee evaluates books for children up to age 14, but the medal winner must be a book "that essentially provides the child with a visual experience."

The American Library Association named four 2008 Caldecott Honor Books: Henry's Freedom Box and The Wall are best for school-age children. First the Egg and Knuffle Bunny Too are delightful for young children.

Snow falls on my head.
Snow fall on my nose.
Snow falls on my boots
But it doesn't touch my toes!

Snow falls on my hands.
Snow falls on my hair.
Snow falls on my shoulders.
Snow falls everywhere!

TICK TOCK
Tick tock tick tock,
Listen to the cuckoo clock.
Tick tock tick tock
Now it's time for me to STOP!
Rock your baby gently back and forth to the beat.
It's fun when you stop!

Tick tock tick tock,
Listen to the cuckoo clock.
Tick tock tick tock
Now it's almost three o'clock.
Cuckoo! Cuckoo! Cuckoo!
On each Cuckoo, lift your baby up or play peek-a-boo!
