  • Summer Traveling
On the go this summer with kids? Take books and music CDs in the car. Ask your librarian for audio books that appeal to a variety of ages. Check out CDs that include up to nine Dr. Seuss stories.

It's easy to play fun games like "I Spy" in the car. This helps build vocabulary. For example, you might say: "I spy something that is red and has white letters." The answer is a stop sign!

    Sitting very still,
Will you come and play with me,
    (pause . . . )
    RIBET - yes I will!

At the beginning, crouch down in a small ball. At the words RIBET - jump up!

(arms make a big circle like a log)
Out in the pond it sees a little frog.
(hands over eyes, pretend to look)
In goes the alligator, round goes the log.
    (roll arms around)
Splash goes the water, away swims the frog!
(clap on splash, and pretend to swim)
    Ribet, ribet, ribet, ribet.
