Please excuse the mess - we're converting the Southdale LIbrary nonfiction collection to Library of Congress classification! Some items may be temporarily unavailable. For help, please ask staff. Children's non-fiction will also soon be inter-filed with the adult non-fiction materials on the 3rd floor. |
Libraries use classification systems to organize books and other collection items. Hennepin County Library has maintained two classification systems - Library of Congress and Dewey Decimal - since the merger of Hennepin County Library and Minneapolis Public Library in 2008.
During 2013, the Library will organize and label all nonfiction collection items using the Library of Congress classification system. Collection items organized using the Dewey Decimal classification system will be converted at Southdale beginning September 30. This will increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Having trouble finding your items during the conversion project? Questions about the project? Ask staff. We'll be happy to help!
