About the art

The neighborhood around Franklin Library has welcomed a diversity of cultures and ethnicities over the years, from the American Indian communities to Scandinavian settlers to waves of Latino and Somali immigrants. That diversity is reflected in the frieze of the Children’s Pavilion, with a series of world-themed photos hanging above shelves packed with books. The National Geographic photos show faces from around the world, sparking and celebrating ideas of diversity.
