Hennepin County Commissioner Peter McLaughlin and Hennepin County Library Director Lois Thompson welcomed members of the Southeast Library Services Steering Committee to the group’s first meeting on July 24, 2014.
The Steering Committee is one component of a community engagement and design research project sponsored by Hennepin County Library in collaboration with University of Minnesota consultants. This research project will identify the learning, library and information needs of the residents of the Como, Marcy-Holmes, Prospect Park and Cedar-Riverside neighborhoods. Hennepin County Library and the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners will use the project's findings when considering future library services to the Southeast community.
At the first meeting, committee members were asked to share their vision for library and learning services. The University's consultants presented current research on neighborhood demographics and case studies to inspire committee members to think broadly about potential library services. Please see the attached agenda, research input form and presentation for more information.
The next Services Steering Committee meeting will be scheduled for early fall. Meeting information will be available on this site when the date and location are determined.
