Hennepin County Commissioners Linda Higgins and Mike Opat, along with Library Director Lois Langer Thompson and other city, state and county speakers, celebrated the Hennepin County Library – Webber Park groundbreaking with Camden community members on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at 4440 Humboldt Ave. N., in Minneapolis.

The new 8,300-square-foot library is scheduled to open in spring 2017.

The new library will be twice as big as the previous library located in Webber Park. It will be open and flexible, with a welcoming environment designed to meet the learning and information needs of the community. It will provide a variety of spaces to read and gather, including meeting rooms and study areas for all ages, and offer increased access to technology and library collections.

Community members participated in a series of public meetings held between 2013 and 2015. Group members developed project objectives and provided feedback on library designs.

The temporary Webber Park Library location is in Camden Center on Webber Parkway.
