And then they broke into song
One of the five early-literacy practices we promote at the Library is Sing Together. Singing allows children to hear the smaller sounds that make up words. And it can happen anywhere. For example, my diaper-changing repertoire includes "Baby put your onesie on 1-2-3" (to the tune of Mama's Little Baby) and the Hokey Pokey ("You put your right foot in", etc., etc..."Come on, shake it all about."). This powerful activity also makes a repetitive chore fun for you and relieves the stress some babies feel getting dressed after diaper changes. Check out these other Art and Music books.
