Backward through the day
A fun and powerful bedtime activity is to tell about what happened during the day. There are a few ways you can do this. You can summarize the highlights of the day as a story: "One day a little bear woke up. After getting dressed and eating her breakfast, the little bear went to the Library." Another way is to create a song, inserting the day's activities. I use Elizabeth Mitchell's Freight Train song: "Going to the Library, going so fast...." Using your creativity, you will be building language skills, bonding, and strengthening those neural pathways in your child's brain.
