Love this tool. Your instructions could be a bit more detailed, though. Each of your three steps requires more than just clicking the link. For example, the GreaseMonkey install requires you to allow the HCLib.org site to install software on your computer. You'll see a bar at the top of the FireFox window prompting you to do that. The lookup tool itself (step 3) is installed by right-clicking the link and choosing Install User Script from the menu. I also needed to restart FireFox before the tool would work.

Thanks for the helpful hints, Jan. The post has been updated with installation instructions for Greasemonkey. To install the script, you can also left-click on the link above and you will be prompted by Firefox to install the script.

Thanks! I'd heard about the original script and couldn't be happier someone adapted it for Hennepin County.

So that means abandoning MS Windows? I tremble at the thought!

I was just coming to the library site to look up a book from Amazon when I saw this tool. Thanks! It's really great.

This is great. Looking things up on Amazon and then finding them at the library is one of my favorite things to do on the web!

This is a great feature, though I had some initial diffculties, finally I could. Only suggestion I have - when you say title not availble but other editions may be - the target page in hclib do a search by 'Title Start with', will it be better with 'Title contains' search. Many books start with unrelevant keywords such as 'Introduction to', 'Guide to' etc. Thank you

Bob, it doesn't mean abandoning Windows, only Internet Explorer (the web browser). Firefox is a free browser, easy to use and navigate, and highly adaptable: this script is just one example. I've been very pleased with it, and it works seamlessly with windows.

Hey Jon, any chance of updating this so it works with the new pages? I love the script. It looks like the origTitle XPath statement isn't working right with the new amazone page. Thanks!
