Hennepin County Library (HCL) programs reflect the mission to nourish minds, transform lives and build community together. We envision a Hennepin County where library services ensure every person has the opportunity and resources to read, graduate, engage, work and learn.
Library programs promote literacy and the collection, technology, cultural and arts diversity, and the library's services and resources. Programs and events are planned to provide lifelong opportunities and to respond to the needs and interests of people of all ages, families, groups and local communities. Partnerships are encouraged to enhance the program experience and reach out to new and diverse patron groups.
Please review the following information and then submit your proposal online using the link at the end of this page. You will be contacted if the program meets our guidelines and fits into our programming needs, schedule, and budget.
Planning and publicity for library programs is done 4-6 months prior to each program cycle.
August 15 (for December - February programs)
November 15 (for March - May programs)
January 15 (for June - August programs)
May 15 (for September - November programs)
Programs may appear on the Library's website, news releases, library fliers and posters, and the program guide. If you have any non-returnable brochures, photographs, publicity or other materials about your organization, publication, or program, please mail them to:
Your check will be mailed to you within five weeks after the completion of your program, upon receipt of your signed contract agreement(s) and independent contractor certificate with a valid tax ID number.
Authors, performers, and staff are not permitted to sell products directly to the public at library events.
Author events are limited to authors whose publications are included in the library collection. To have your title considered for purchase by the Library, use the Suggest a Purchase form.
