Hispanic Heritage This month we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, highlighting the history, culture and achievements of Hispanic Americans. The celebration, beginning in mid-September, coincides historically with the anniversaries of independence of several Spanish-speaking nations, including Mexico. At this time, individuals of Hispanic background are the major minority group in the United States, with a current population of over 35.9 million.
