Print from your PC at the Library

Wireless printing is available at all Hennepin County libraries, except Long Lake, Osseo and St. Bonifacius.

Requirements: Windows users must be running Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, including 64-bit computers. Windows 8 OK, but not tested in all environments.

Download printer driver

Click on the library name below to install a printer and necessary driver. (Not available at Long Lake, Osseo or St. Bonifacius libraries.)

Instructions

After downloading the driver, click on "Run" or "Open" to install the file. A new printer will appear in your printers listing.

When printing a document at the library, select the new printer from the list of installed printers. Your printout will be routed to the library’s printstation where you can pay and print the document.

Note: The printer you install uses a color driver. You will want to set black and white printing as the default since you will be charged color prices if you leave it set to color.

  • Click on Start, click on Settings, then click on Devices and Printers
  • Right-click on the printer named yourlibrary Public Library and select Printing Preferences
  • On the General tab, click on Preferences
  • On the Quality tab (bottom of screen), click on "Print in black and white" if it's not checked.
  • Click OK

The install program will install software on your computer and then install a printer in your Printers folder along with the appropriate driver and an uninstall program. Your Start menu will have a listing for Pharos with sublistings for Uninstall Pharos.

To uninstall the printer click on Start, click on Programs and select Pharos > Uninstall Pharos. Your PC will prompt you to restart, but you may cancel this prompt if you wish.

Yes. You may print by installing the printer for the library you are visiting. If you do install more than one library printer and want to delete only one, do not use Uninstall. Just delete the printer in your Printers and Faxes folder.
