'Minnesotans in the Civil War' Program Series
'Minnesotans in the Civil War' Program Series Minnesota was far from Civil War battlefields, but Minnesotans played significant roles in the fight against Confederate secession and slavery. In observance of the war's 150th anniversary, programs at eight libraries will feature authors, a reenactor, an archivist and a historian. More info.

New 'Crafty Minnesota' Programs
Adults who enjoy the textile arts can learn about local and world textile art traditions at nine workshops that begin in December. Instructors are from the nonprofit Textile Center and are working artists as well as skilled teachers. More info.

A New Walker Library
Construction for the new Hennepin County Library - Walker begins on November 19. Project contractor Shaw-Lundquist Associates, Inc. will begin demolition of the old building to prepare for construction of a new Walker Library on the same site. The re-opening is scheduled for mid-2014.
