.Describe Catherine's relationship with her brother David. What about her parents' relationship with him?

.How are Catherine's rules good for David? Do any of them hold him back? How about her own rules for herself?

.Do people need rules? Can having rules be a negative thing as well as positive? Think of some examples.

.Compare Catherine's relationship with her brother to that with Jason.

.How would you describe Catherine's relationship with Kristi? Why would C. invest so much in a possible friendship?

.Art, music and books have a big role in this story. How do they help make connections between the characters?

.Can you think of examples of times when Catherine was not honest with herself or others? How do other characters avoid dealing with problems or act in non-truthful ways?

.What do you think might happen next with Kristi? Jason? David? Their parents? How has Catherine's relationship with each changed by the end of the book?

.If Catherine were to write a rule at the end of the story, what might it be?

.Why do you think the author began every chapter with a rule?
