.What kind of a person was Addy? What makes people happy? Can you change yourself into a happy person? How?
.Why was it so important to Addy to have a normal life? How did she go about this? Did you think Addie was giving up on being normal? Why?
.What kind of a person was Mommers? Mommers spent a lot of time on the internet in chat rooms. Can you become addicted to the intenet? Was Mommers? Were you surprised when Mommers turned on her computer instead of going outside to play with the Littles? Was Mommers smart in business? How did she have enough money to buy the car and her clothes? If she used Dwight's money to buy into Pete's business, why didn't she go out and sell the office supplies? Why did Mommers buy the evening dress for Addie's December concert? Why didn't she listen when Addie begged her not to make her wear it? If Mommers could buy all those things for herself, why couldn't she buy Addie a pair of boots or underpants?
.Addie had dyslexia, which made it hard for her to learn. Did you understand her disability? Mommers said that Addie didn't have the "Love of Learning." What did she mean by that? Addie never felt she was smart. Do you think it's easier for people with disabilities to think this?
.What changes in a family when there is divorce? Why is divorce hard on the kids? Do you think it is hard on the adults? Why did Dwight send money to Mommers? Why was Mommers so mean to Dwight? Did Dwight love Addie? If so, why didn't he fight for her? Why was it so hard for Dwight to get custody of Addie? In past years, it was almost impossible for men to get full custody or even part custody of their children. Why would judges assume that the mother is the best parent? Do you think children should be with the father, mother, or both?
