.Rodents have been favorite characters in children's books, such as in Charlotte's Web or Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. Why do you think rats are such a popular animal in books?
.The rat tells Emmy she should try being mean so that people respect her more. How can a person earn someone's respect without being mean?
.If you could feed one person in the world a cookie imprinted with chinchilla footprint (to reverse his/her values), who would you choose? Why?
.Joe's dad puts a lot of pressure on him to practice hard at sports and do really well on the soccer team. Have you ever felt under pressure because of something you're good at and how did you feel about it?
.Ratty and his sister Cecilia were seperated as baby mice. How do you think they felt when they were reunited?
.Which scene do you remember the most?
.Are you satisfied or disappointed with the ending?
.Sometimes the cover of a book catches your eye and makes you want to read it, or sometimes the cover seems dull even though the book is really good. What do you think of the cover of Emmy and the Incredible Shrinking Rat?
.Emmy was always doing her best work and never getting recognized for it. Why was she never noticed at school? How would it feel to never be noticed?
.The rodents in Antique Rat all have different abilities. Such as "Infusion of courage". "Guaranteed to sniff out a lie." "To induce calming sleep." Which do you think is the most useful and why?
.If Emmy was a real person, do you think you'd be friends with her? Why or why not?
.There is a sequel to this book as well as a third book in progress, do you think you'll read them? Why or why not?
."I wouldn't mind being ordinary," Emmy says on page 70. What do you think she means?
.Why do you think Mrs. Barmy is so mean? Did something happen to her when she was younger that made her evil? Or does she just choose to stay that way? What are the benefits of being small?
.Even though Ender Mouse could help Emmy solve her problems, why do you think Emmy never used her? Was this a hard decision for Emmy to make? Why or why not?
