Goolrick, Robert, 1948- A Reliable Wife : a Novel Rural Wisconsin, 1909. Ralph Truitt, a successful businessman, waits on a train platform for the woman who answered his advertisement for “a reliable wife.” But the woman who steps off the train is not the simple and honest companion that he had hoped for.
