This educational video will help new Somali immigrants improve their chances of making a successful adjustment to their new homes. It promotes greater understanding among non-Somalis of the distance these new neighbors have traveled already. From the moment they arrive, these new Americans face many barriers: communication across cultures and languages; the search for housing; knowing their responsibilities and rights, including the protections of Fair Housing Law; what to expect in the lease; the skills necessary to maintain their housing and develop a good rental history; and the opportunities for home ownership. Featuring interviews with tenants, landlords, family advocates, and government authorities, the video helps develop the cultural competencies required to make good landlords and good tenants.

Provides a culturally-sensitive introduction to cervical cancer, HPV, and cervical cancer screening for Somali women. In this story you will meet Hamdi and her neighbor Siman. Hamdi tells Siman she has been taking care of their friend Fatuma, who had cervical cancer. Fatuma received good treatment and has survived the cancer. Hamdi shares Fatuma's story of survival with Siman. Fatuma insisted that every woman should be screened for cervical cancer, and so Hamdi encourages Siman to make an appointment for herself. Follow Siman as she visits a health clinic, where she gets answers to many questions about cervical cancer. Learn how you can prevent cervical cancer, and unite with women like Hamdi and Siman who now get a cervical screening every year.

He explores social attitudes and risk factors that Somalis may face during conversations with radio and tv host Zuhur Ahmed and students. To find out accurate health information, Mukhtar interviews Somali doctor Abdirahman Mohamed. He also gets a religious perspective from Sheikh Sharif Abdirahman. This program explores peer pressure, communication between parents and teens, and the roles of culture and Islamic practice.
