by Khanh Ha. FLESH’s inside front flap says, ’Khanh Ha writes of the physical world with such sensuousness that he will make the reader%E2%80%99s heart ache.’ Yes, Ha’s prose at times borders on being lyrical yet restrained to the reader’s enjoyment. And it’s an enjoyable read throughout. Ha deals with issues such as kinship -- obligations born out of it resting on those who choose to honor it or even take it beyond the loved ones -- and morality whose fibers Ha weaves and holds firm till the very end when it becomes thin regarding the question of immorality or madness. And it will remain a question most readers will have to ask: Is it to each his own? Ha appears to have secured his foothold with his debut novel as one of the finest first-time novelists. This will certainly raise readers’ expectation for his next novel. posted Jul 12, 2012 at 10:08AM
