by Eric Jerome Dickey I would recommend this book. I have read it at least three times! I would have to admit, the main characters in this book were thoroughly researched. The sex scenes were explicit...but had the reader yearning for more. But this book also deals with a strong, unconditional bond that is rarely expressed with words..but with thoughts and actions!
A definite must read! posted Oct 30, 2009 at 3:03PM

| The Dew Breaker by Edwige Danticat (0 titles)
I am of Haitian descent, so I was immediately drawn to this book. This book tells a story in two-folds! (1957-1971) and (2000-present). The book discusses Haitian politics during the time Francois (Papa Doc)Duvalier presided over Haiti. Edwige Danticat brings the Post Duvalier era to the Flatbush section of Brooklyn,NY, where most Haitians reside. The author shows how the past misdeeds of 'evil' politics and corruption can have a profound effect on our current lives. A definite must read!
| Beloved by Toni Morrison (0 titles)
Although the movie was a complete disaster, the book however is well written and gives us more insight to the ghost that haunted the main character of this book. Morrison does an extrordinary job depicting the pyschological make up of Black Women during the Pre-Civil War period.
| The Feast of All Saints by Ann Rice (0 titles)
This book is extraordinary. It discusses the lives of Freed Blacks (mulattos) who live the lifestyles of the bourgeois elite during the Pre-Civil War period. The mulattos struggled with their identities and place in society. A major incident occurs, and the main character faces a striking realization in which he is forced to accept who he really is. A definite must read!
