Cover ArtOff Armageddon Reef
by Weber, David, 1952-
"Humanity is Hiding...Innovation and Change, Forbidden" reads the back cover. And so it is, after the Terran Federation is totally wiped out by the Gbabba (Don't ask me how to pronounce it, I still don't have any idea how!), a small coloney fleet gets through. Speeding though hyperspace for ten years, they set up a coloney on an Earth-like planet without modern technology. A throwback to the Middle Ages. But, something went wrong, the coloney supervisors betrayed the trust. First in a series.   posted Jul 3, 2007 at 2:50PM

Cover ArtHeir to the empire
by Zahn, Timothy
The Empire is in shambles following the destruction of the Second Death Star (Why'd they build a second one after the first one was destroyed so easilly?) and the death of Emperor Palpatine. But, a new leader emerges from the Unknown Regions, Grand Admiral Thrawn. Able to defeat any enemy just by studying their art, Thrawn is invincable and he has limitless recources at his disposal. This may spell the end of the New Republic. First in a trilogy   posted Jun 27, 2007 at 4:20PM

Cover ArtDoomsday book
by Willis, Connie
A 14-year old reasercher from 22nd century England visits the middle ages. She goes around and tries to find out as much as she can for the college archieves, but something goes wrong. Cover ArtIn death ground
by Weber, David, 1952-
What if Humanity faced a threat that just didn't know when to stop? That just kept on comming until they wore us down in a deadly war of attrition? That's what the Fleet Admirals wonder after they meet the Arachnids. Vicious, spiderlike beings whose only reason for space flight is to find food, and humans, especially human children, are the perfect food. They must be repelled, but by who? Second in a series, first in a mini-series.   posted Jun 27, 2007 at 4:16PM

Cover ArtIn Fury Born
by Weber, David
Now we get to the God of Military Sci-Fi, David Weber. This story is set in the future with the Terran Empire. A 17 year old girl enlists in the Empire's Marine Corps after going through a five year college course in 2 years. Follows her through her time as a Marine before she joins the Imperial Cadre, and then has the greatest betrayel ever known to the Cadre. A very good book, I can't reccommend it enough!   posted Jun 27, 2007 at 4:11PM

Cover ArtRed thunder
by Varley, John, 1947 Aug. 9-
The Chinese are going to get to Mars FIRST!!! Or so they think, a group of suburban friends plan to build a Space Vessel that will take them to Mars in 3 days to get there before the Chinese. And, its built from pocket money, relatively ($1M). A real neat story!   posted Jun 27, 2007 at 4:09PM

Cover ArtThe hero
by Ringo, John, 1963-
A tale of morality. The Human race expanded until it fought a bloody war that seperated them into 2 seperate governments. The one that we follow, the rim worlds, has something that they call Deep Recon Commando Teams, an Assault Recon Marine squad if you will. A Darhel, a being geneticly programmed against violance, is assigned to a team and is then shipped off to find out if a world is held by the enemy or not. They find an ancient artifact that is quite valuable and then Greed, a purely human thing, gets involved. A real thinker at times!   posted Jun 27, 2007 at 4:07PM

Cover Art1632
by Flint, Eric
What if a town from West Virgina from the year 2001 (Could never understand the fixation on the year!) was transplanted into Germany in the year 1632, right in the middle of the 30 Years War? With a mix of good natured humor, well thought out action sequences, the right mix of ancient and modern and the brilliant writing of Eric Flint, this story is a true winner. 1st in a series   posted Jun 27, 2007 at 4:04PM

Cover Art2001 : a space odyssey
by Clarke, Arthur Charles, 1917-
A true classic! Tells the tale of the Starship Discovery and its trip to Jupiter. Set in the year 2001, the tech level of the Human Race as a whole is much higher then it was. Also, cantains the Soviet Union. 1st in a series   posted Jun 27, 2007 at 4:04PM

Cover ArtPrelude to Foundation
by Asimov, Isaac, 1920-1992
A neat tale of the distant future where Earth is but a legend to the human race, it follows the tale of a mathmaticion who believes that he is able to tell about events that happen in the future by looking at trends. Worth the read. Note: Check out the rest of the series!   posted Jun 27, 2007 at 3:59PM

Cover ArtI, robot
by Asimov, Isaac, 1920-1992
The only book on this list I haven't read. My friend, however, says that this is a book worth reading though, and that the movie was a cheap rip-off. It's Asimov, it better be good.   posted Jun 27, 2007 at 3:58PM
