This list contains books that have helped me escape my day to day routines and realize maybe the drama of my life is not all that. A lot of memoirs, a few novels, some about family relationships, growing up, finding oneself, facing down addiction, etc. Its a montage. Enjoy. |

 Spooky little girl : a novel by Notaro, Laurie. I thought some stereotypical chick lit was what I needed to get back in the swing of reading. Everything was going well until the main character went into the afterlife and the author lost me. Sorry! posted Mar 18, 2013 at 9:36AM

 My life in France by Child, Julia. I savored every well written detail of her adventures both in the kitchen and out. Remind yourself while reading that this was the 1950's and what a different path she chose from most women her age. What a woman! posted Aug 17, 2011 at 6:12PM

 Julie and Julia : my year of cooking dangerously by Powell, Julie. 100 times more satisfying than watching the movie. If you like this I highly recommend also reading Julia Child's "My Life in France". posted Aug 17, 2011 at 6:10PM
