RavenousReader's Book Lists
Fantastic Fantasy for Girls (18 titles)
These books all include powerful and strong girls who embark on dangerous quests and doings. They are not the Disney kind of princesses or girls. They are more complicated to figure out! Dragons, princes, and deadly curses, read how these courageous girls solve their problems. In Book of a Thousand Days, Dashti, a mucker maid, must act as Lady Saren, her mistress, and doing this is like a death sentence. Ella, of Ella Enchanted has a curse of obedience, having to do anything someone says. (I don't want to spoil that much!) Not your normal book characters! You have to read it to believe it! NOTE: Books on this list are books I have read, not ones that I am reading. Enjoy these books! Thank You

Cover ArtUnder the never sky
by Rossi, Veronica
Genre: Futuristic My Rating: 5 out of 5 Recently, I read Under the Never Sky, and it became my favorite book! I rate it a 5 because it has a little romance, survival, and dystopic qualities to it! It's a lot like "Matched" in some ways. I really liked the switching perspectives, the character's personalities, and the time it took place. "Under the Never Sky" is descriptive, well written, suspenseful, and is a must read! Sequel: Through the Ever Night (I have not read this, also)   posted Jul 6, 2013 at 10:18AM

Cover ArtLife as we knew it
by Pfeffer, Susan Beth, 1948-
Genre: Realistic Fiction My Rating: 4 and a half out of 5 Once again, "Life as we knew it" is another one of those unique books. I have not read many books that involve natural disasters, but I can tell that this is one of the better ones. I enjoyed the use of first person perspective and that the fact that the characters weren't perfect and didn't always get what they wanted. I think that I would recommend this book to almost any avid reader! It's a great story!   posted Jul 6, 2013 at 10:10AM

Cover ArtUnEnchanted : an unfortunate fairy tale
by Hahn, Chanda
Genre: Fantasy My Rating: 5 out of 5- I rate "Unenchanted" a 5 because it is different from a lot of other fantasy books that I have read. "Unenchanted" is about an unfortunate and unpopular girl whose name is Mina Grime (actually Grimm)who carries a curse that runs through the Grimm family. She must complete and be a part of many of the Grimm stories, as horrifying as it seems. "Unenchanted" was suspenseful, charming, and is now one of my favorite fantasy books! Book 2: Fairest (I have not read it yet)   posted Jul 6, 2013 at 10:01AM

Cover ArtHold still
by LaCour, Nina
Genre: Realistic Fiction My Rating: 4 out of 5 Before you read this book, I will warn you that it is for mature readers, and that it involves cutting, suicide etc. I rate "Hold Still" a four because it had a great "moving on" story to it, and it was another one of those stories you could easily relate to. It made me want to laugh and cry. Well done, Nina LaCour!   posted Jul 6, 2013 at 9:57AM

Cover ArtMatched
by Condie, Allyson Braithwaite
Genre: Futuristic My Rating: 5 out of 5 Matched is a rare kind of book. When I read this book when I was younger, I thought it was too mushy, etc. But now, since I am older, I could understand the characters more. I really liked how Cassia, the main character "did not go gentle" like the other Citizens in her Society did. She fought for freedom. "Matched" is an emotional, special, and powerful book that deserved a full 5 out of 5! Book 2 in the Matched Trilogy: Crossed, Book 3:Reached   posted Jul 6, 2013 at 9:52AM
