 The long winter by Wilder, Laura Ingalls, 1867-1957 I am reading this to my daughter each night before she goes to bed. Times were so different and to see how self-reliant people were over 100 years ago it is amazing. Such a stark contrast to see how people have "progressed" into a very different people that expect entitlements never even imagined in Laura's days. posted Feb 8, 2009 at 1:49PM
