- I read this book and couldn’t put it down! It is really great. It is about a girl named Talley, her friends Peris, and Shay, as well as the Smokies she meets. It is set in the future, so it has many inventions, such as hoverboards, that we don’t have, but portrays the characters in a realistic way. Another historical fiction novel with Nazi Germany. This story is about two naive boys, one German, and one Jew, who meet and the friendship they devlop. The ending will surprise you. The children want a mother, and a wife for the doctor, so they place an ad in a newspaper (without their Uncles knowledge) advertising for a mail order bride.
