These books are funny and/or emotional. I'm in 11th grade and feel like they're right at my level for enjoyable, easy reads. Some have mature content. They all have boy meets girl somewhere in there but that is not all to them of course.

Good books to sit down with a mug of hot chocolate on a rainy day and read.

by Gilmore, Kate. This book deserves more attention as it is well written and heart-wrenching. The political situation in this book has striking similarities to that of today. posted Jun 29, 2012 at 10:49PM

by Tiernan, Cate. These books are really engaging. I love how the author makes it real with details and I’m so glad they’re putting these all in one volume. posted Jul 16, 2010 at 6:05PM

by Westerfeld, Scott. This is even better than Peeps in my opinion. You don’t have to be worried about parasite information every chapter (even thought that was sort of interesting) and the characters are younger and cooler. posted Nov 1, 2009 at 4:03PM

by Ying Chang Compestine This is a very moving book that details what it was like to live during the revolution. I would suggest it to anybody who can connect with the characters and appreciate that this actually happened. posted Sep 1, 2008 at 8:40PM

by Sage, Angie Good light read. Nothing too dark or sad or heavy. Magykal and cool. posted Aug 12, 2007 at 12:08PM

by Pierce, Tamora This isn't the first book because I couldn't find it, but this is an awesome series for girls, same with all the other Tamora pierce books. The first one is best. posted Aug 12, 2007 at 12:06PM

by Paolini, Christopher Everyone has heard of this one, so what can I say? The movie does not reflect the book at all so if you've seen the movie don't think you know it all. You still HAVE to read the book! posted Aug 12, 2007 at 12:05PM

by Meyer, L. A. 1942- Really awesome series, they're sometimes very long but really absorbing. Jacky Faber is a great character. posted Aug 12, 2007 at 12:05PM

by Lowry, Lois This is a companion to The Giver and Gathering Blue, but you don't have to reallly read them in any order. posted Aug 12, 2007 at 12:04PM

by Funke, Cornelia Caroline I recommend this to EVERYBODY. but especially those who like books. posted Aug 12, 2007 at 12:03PM

by Constable, Kate, 1966- Great fantasy book with a new way of looking at magic. The world its based in is captivating and so are the characters. posted Aug 12, 2007 at 12:03PM

by Atwater-Rhodes, Amelia Three-quil to Hawksong. It's very good to listen to on disc/tape. The second book is pretty bad, but this one is very good. posted Aug 12, 2007 at 12:02PM

by Atwater-Rhodes, Amelia Shapeshifter book that focuses on leaders struggling ot make peace. posted Aug 12, 2007 at 12:01PM

by Angie Sage This is a great series if your looking for a break from extremely-climactic dark books. It manages to be "magykal" and funny with adventure and danger too. If you like audiobooks, I would suggest listening to this one, they did a great job with it. posted Apr 20, 2007 at 9:16PM

by Jonathan Stroud This isn’t exactly science fiction so much as fantasy in my opinion, so if you are going to turn it down expecting lazers and spaceships its not like that. It’s one of my favorite books, Bartimaeus is awesome and witty! I don’t mean to shoot down your comment Claire, but I disagree. posted Mar 31, 2007 at 5:14PM

by Cornelia Funke I would have to agree with ™! It is awesome. Be prepared to shed some tears if your a book-sop like me. If you liked Inkheart even just a bit this is a must-read. posted Mar 31, 2007 at 5:10PM

by Schoen, Ben Really great, I love how the people writing it always contradict themselves and eachother because there is so much evidence pointing to either side of a theory. They know that no conclusions can be drawn yet, but have fun theorizing anyway. It’s not at all them saying what for sure will happen so don’t think that this will ruin Deathly Hallows for you. Also, if your into this kind of thing and Harry Potter, check out Mugglecast and Mugglenet. posted Mar 31, 2007 at 5:06PM

by Atwater-Rhodes, Amelia This is one of my favorite books and it's really great to listen to on audio-tape. Though Snakecharm sadly needed improvement, this one is awesome. If you like it check out some more of Amelia Atwater-Rhodes's books! posted Mar 2, 2007 at 6:56PM
