Cover ArtBuffalo lockjaw
by Ames, Greg.
James Fitzroy is 27 years old and concerned for the welfare of his mother who is struck with Alzhiemers at the age of 56. A poignant and sometimes funny story about identity, philosophy and mortality. Ames's characters and dialogue are welldeveloped and entirely credible, 5stars   posted Aug 23, 2013 at 4:41PM

Cover ArtThe thirteenth tale : a novel
by Setterfield, Diane.
The thirteenth tale takes almost the whole book to discover but well worth the journey! This is a novel of Gothic ecstasy. A book about books and effective mystery! I highly recommend it to anyone who loves to be wrapped up in a book!   posted Mar 28, 2013 at 6:51PM

Cover ArtMy lobotomy : a memoir
by Dully, Howard, 1948-
A stunning and terrifying memoir about a boy who was just a boy and lobotomized at the age of 12. I was really touched and thorighly engaged by this story.   posted Mar 28, 2013 at 6:48PM

Cover ArtThe kitchen house
by Grissom, Kathleen
The Kitchen House is home to Lavinia who is indentured as a white Irish immigrant in the late 1700's in Virginia. The "Captain" would have sold her because she was an orphan but she was too sick to sell. Some of the slaves who live on the Captains plantation become her family and this situation is further complicated as Lavinia grows up and realizes that she is in the same place as they are as far as her personal freedom is concerned. This one is a genuine gem of a story, very evocative and absorbing as well an excellent history lesson!   posted Dec 6, 2012 at 10:26PM

Cover ArtThe immortal life of Henrietta Lacks
by Skloot, Rebecca, 1972-
This TRUE story is one of the most interesting, well written and touching books I have read thus far this year!! Touching on scientific ethics, social equality and health insurance issues, it is inspiring, shocking and thoroughly engrossing!! Highly recommended!   posted Oct 5, 2012 at 11:26AM
