Nemirovsky, Irene Reserve Kit Suite Francaise The surviving first two parts of Nemirovsky's planned five-part novel are here translated into English. Nemirovsky, a Ukrainian Jew trying to evade the Nazis, was captured and sent to Auschwitz in 1942, where she died a month later at the age of 39. The authors' surviving daughters took the manuscript into hiding with them. The novel's first part, A Storm in June, opens in the chaos of the massive 1940 exodus from Paris on the eve of the Nazi invasion, during which several families and individuals are thrown together under circumstances beyond their control.
