Definition: Grand: adj. magnificent or splendid; noble or fine; of great importance and distinction. Parent: protector, guardian, to rear children. Though the definition stays the same, grandparenting today is more than what it used to be or what people thought it was. It does not come completely naturally. We can't just rely on our instincts. Today, being a grandparent is a complex role that is handed to us whether we have a plan for it or not. We approach this new and essential role with both joy and trepidation. It changes the dynamics with our adult children. It changes our own identity and view of ourselves. Wouldn't it be wonderful if a "toolkit" came along with each stage of life to make it easier? Fortunately, the library has numerous books and materials to help us learn. The following are some suggested titles.
