Love vampires? Love shoes? Love the Twin Cities? Then Mary Janice Davidson’s “Undead” series is for you. Follow the adventures and mishaps of Betsy Taylor, Queen of the Vampires beginning with Undead and Unwed and continuing on through Undead and Unemployed, Undead and Unappreciated all the way to the sixth book, Undead and Uneasy. Ms. Davidson also writes young adult novels and romantic fiction.

Set in MN, Betsy Taylor becomes a vampire, and is their new queen, much to her dismay. Also the first book in a series.

Oh my gosh, this is hilarious! If you're a fan of Buffy or Angel, you'll probably like this series. Takes place in MN

I like Davidson’s plots a lot, as well as her wise-cracking heroines. Even her side characters are unbeatable in terms of memorability (in a good way). However, her books come with a warning. Read only if you can stand a light style of writing more in line with the voice of a stereotypical flighty shopping-addict rich girl or high school cheerleader.

The wise-cracking smarty mouth on the heroine is hilarious, and the hero is a hunk who cares, but I didn’t like their fighting. The other characters are original and interesting, too. Brief explicit sex.
