Those who believe historical writing is necessarily dull should try this exceptional book. Mr. McCullough has a gift for making history jump to life. His discussions of Washington are wonderful and provide good insight into what our first president faced during his service as commander of the American army. McCullough also introduces many other important characters such as Nathaniel Greene, who some may not be familiar with. You will come away with a much more "fleshed out" feel for our amazing history!
