Adult Fiction VON SCH

From Library Journal:

In the 23rd century, the catastrophic destruction of Earth has left the colonists of Venusia, an experimental settlement on Venus, as its inheritors. Ruled by Princeps Crittendon, citizens of Venusia live in a hallucinatory state of peace and mutual cooperation, devoid of history, religion, or literacy-until Rogers Collectibles, a junk dealer, along with several other citizens and PHRED, a sentient plant, discover a way to break out of their drug-induced routine and uncover a truth that changes life on Earth's last colony. Part of Semiotext(e)'s "Native Agents" sf series, dedicated to reenvisioning models for the future, von Schlegell's first novel (launching its own "Systems" series) provides a heady, kaleidoscopic trip into a dystopic future as well as a backward look at the necessities of the past.
