Stop reading this review and get this book! You know how some books make you find any reason to be reading (over and above the standard reasons)? Well, for me, The Inhabited World is one of those books. Author David Long successfully blends Evan Molloy’s two lives — the one before his death and the one after — into a compelling story that pulls readers in for the long haul. Evan is confined to his former house and grounds, a sort of “fly on the wall” who shares his observations of the home’s current inhabitants; in turn readers get a sense of Evan’s own inner workings, and perhaps some insight as to why he took his own life, even though he himself doesn’t remember why. Highly recommend this book.

There came a point about 2/3 of the way through the book where it started to become a little dull, and I considered not continuing to read. But then an extra twist is added, which compelled me to continue. So if you start getting bored, keep reading, it gets more interesting!
