As her friend and the executor of Sophie's will, plus-sized, middle-aged paralegal Odelia Grey comes to believe that Sophie's suicide is not as cut-and-dried as it first appeared. Though much respected and liked, Sophie had a checkered past, and too many things are not adding up. Balancing her professional skills as a paralegal with her self-doubt as a sleuth, Odelia is one of the most believable amateur detectives in recent fiction. Beautifully plotted and carefully crafted, this is a marvelous start to an exciting new series. Strongly recommended. Jaffarian lives in southern California. (c) Copyright 2010.
