You wouldn't think a book about fixing up a 1951 International Harvester pickup truck could be so wonderful! I have no interest in trucks yet I love this book. Perry lives in a small Wisconsin town, he's almost 40, he's had several failed romances. He writes about his beloved truck, garden and eccentric friends. He meets his future wife at the public library. A born story teller, he entertains as he reflects on his life during the course of a year. One story he tells about an older couple he keenly observed in a restaurant will stay with me forever.

I loved Michael's other books - this, not so much. After a while, i skipped all the truck parts and got to the rest. He is quite the story teller! I recommend any of his other books. I'd actually like to have him as a friend.
