This book was suprisingly complicated, yet easy to read. It takes place in the real world, with no fantisy, unless you count being placed about a million or two years in the future. About a boy/man of 15 years, this book explors the world of Mentat, or human/computer, training, the desert planet Arakes, the fremen, or natives of Arakes, the highly adictive and potent spice, and the effect all of this has on the boy/man Paul Atrades, heir to the Duke Leto and Oh so much more. If this made sence and you haven't read the book, then I'm scared. So, therefore, READ THIS BOOK 'CAUSE IT'S REALLY COOL!

i thought it was very cool. it was about these people who went to a desert planet and the main guy, Paul, survives an asationation attempt with his mother and joins a small band of fremen or desert dwellers. he survives to reclame the throne of the planet and kills the emperor. it did get kinda boring in the middle, though. [Series: Dune #1]

This novel won the Nebula Award in 1966. More than 30 years later it’s still fascinating and a great adventure story. It’s kind of like Lawrence of Arabia meets Star Wars.
