Mumtaz is the privileged 15-year-old daughter of the leader of an illegal political opposition party in Pakistan; Rashid is the poor assistant to Mumtaz's country club tennis coach. But when Mumtaz discovers that her brother is in trouble with a dangerous drug trafficker, she asks Rashid to help with her elaborate scheme to save him. The two embark on perilous adventures around the city, and eventually they become entangled with the criminal underworld of Karachi. THE SHALAMAR CODE is an excellent, fast-paced story, with a unique plot line and engaging main characters.
