Leon Uris drops you right in the middle of Warsaw, Poland in August 1939. This book is full of interesting characters tragically tied to history. Uris sneeks in interesting historical facts while you become involved in the character's lives. The story includes the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising as well. I acutally caught myself crying a few times while reading it. You won't be disappointed!
