Villette could be studied to understand exactly what kind of toll total isolation takes on a person. The heroine, Lucy Snowe, is very similar to Jane Eyre.

This is one of the best books I’ve ever read. The character development is beyond words. When I read the review from Virginia Wolf that it was better than Jane Eyre, I thought ’Yeah right.’ It really was. Lucy Snowe is incredible. Even though this book was written over 150 years ago, it is still relevant.
