This novel is the story of fair-skinned Janie Crawford, and her evolving selfhood through three marriages and a life marked by poverty, racism, discrimination and loss. I found the novel interesting and enjoyed the character of Janie. What a resilient woman. I would give this a 4.5 stars out of 5.
