George Smiley is called out of retirement to find a Soviet mole in the Circus—the term used for Britain’s version of the CIA—during the Cold War. Because a new film of the book with a great cast is being filmed in the UK, it was time to read this book, which my spouse couldn’t believe I’d never read. Spy jargon a bit hard for me to follow but a whooping good story! Now, hopefully, we’ll see the film get distribution here in 2011.

Not only is this a great read it is also a great BBC production that is available through the library. The reader is advised that knowing about the importance of winning in the Cold War against the Soviet Union was a life and death struggle for many of us.
