I liked this novel more than the Library Journal’s reviewer Caroline M. Hallsworthy did. I think it is a credit to Enright to be able to write such a compelling novel about a story with very limited physical action on the part of the characters. No light reading here: a stark novel plumbing the depths of struggling love and the things that pass for love. A great book for those who don’t need sunshine in all they read.
