Excellent book. While the main characters are kids, the subject matter is relevant for both kids and adults. This book also has plenty of easy to understand explanations about complicated technology. Be sure to read the two afterwards. They are excellent essays on their own.

A REALLY GOOD book. If you’re even thinking about doing stuff with computers anytime in the future - majoring in Computer Science, etc - you should read this book. Everything is so interesting, and explained clearly enough that you don’t even need to know anything about the subject to follow it. I definitely recommend

This is a great book. I read it originally when Doctorow put it out online for free. I’m a computer technician but I felt the explanations of technology were spot on and very understandable to the lay person. There are some very poignant moments in this book and the thinly veiled comparisons to today’s American society were fabulous.

Great read. It was fantastic. I do NOT specialize in computers at all, but was able to follow along with the descriptions of the technology really well.
