Actress and writer Carrie Fisher was born in Burbank, California on October 21, 1956 to singer Eddie Fisher and actress Debbie Reynolds. She has appeared in numerous movies including Shampoo (1975), Hannah and Her Sisters (1986), When Harry Met Sally (1989), Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997), and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001). She is best-known for her portrayal of Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy. Her first novel, Postcards from the Edge, was awarded the Los Angeles Pen Award for Best First Novel.
