Summary: Monica's late husband had been the perfect spouse, and Monica had no intention of looking for someone to take his place. Then her next door neighbor, Devin, started paying attention to her and her three small children. Working two jobs in the busy city of New Orleans, Monica didn't need the additional burden of male companionship, but Devin found ways to intrude in her life. Monica's sense of loyalty to her late husband led her to accept Devin only as a friend. She would not tolerate the notion of sharing a deeper relationship with Devin. Devin persisted in changing friendship to love, finally getting Monica sexually involved and unexpectedly pregnant. Monica agrees to marriage for the sake of their child, but Devin will still have to work hard in the marriage to make Monica understand and accept her unplanned second marriage.
