I’d missed reading this Doctorow book 35 years ago and came across it this summer when reading other books set in NYC. This entertaining tale set just after the turn of the 20th century up to WWI shines a light on those changing times. Doctorow blends fictional and real life people in his story. You wonder how all these seeming independent stories will come together. But, they do. The book’s a classic. And, now I’ll watch the movie!
