Another fabulous book by a master writer. The sequel to The Lions Game and continuing the saga of John Corey as he faces the world’s most dangerous terrorist. 9 of 10 for me. Thanks Nelson!

I found this story unnecessarily long, tawdry and graphic. An expert terrorist running around wily nilly murdering Americans and innocent families does not excite me. The novel could have been less negative and a lot more positive without the tortuous violence. 6 of 10 stars

DeMille spent a lot of effort concocting wisecracks for the protagonist to spout at every turn. Too bad he didn’t expend much making the reader care about his characters. An exciting beginning degenerates into mere boilerplate thriller with the bad guy the only interesting participant. Hopefully his next book will reflect more of DeMille’s past prowess.

Instead of Demille’s tired sequel The Lion, read a book similar to the Lion’s Game revolving around a detective uncovering a 9/11 conspiracy, instead of TWA flight #800. It’s a new release called “America Deceived II” by E.A. Blayre III. The 9/11 chapter brings you back to that time vividly as the detective plot unfolds.
