A week in December [sound recording]
Faulks, Sebastian.
Adult Fiction FAULKS
From Library Journal:
Seven Londoners interact in surprising and often hilarious ways in Faulks's (www.-sebastianfaulks.com) ambitious tenth novel, following Devil May Care (2008), also available from Books on Tape/Random Audio. A chutney manufacturer is invited to Buckingham Palace, even as his son plots jihad; a financial shark plans to make a killing, which may bring the markets crashing down; a venal book reviewer (ouch!) faces the consequences of his actions. Longish discussions of financial chicanery and the Koran slow the novel's pace but add substance. Audie Award winner Simon Vance (see Behind the Mike, LJ 10/15/09) capably handles the wide array of accents-the jihadist, for instance, was raised in Scotland. Sophisticated fun for any collection. ["Faulks's latest novel should match the success of previous works like Birdsong and Human Traces," read the review of the Doubleday hc, LJ Xpress Reviews, 4/23/10.-Ed.]-John Hiett, Iowa City P.L.
